January Classroom News
Happy New Year! It is wonderful to be back in school.
And it is time to jump into January. The Winter season brings so much to explore and talk about. In class we will center our activities around the themes: Snow, Winter, Penguins and Friendship. Our color day this month will be white, and the shapes we will explore are circle and rectangle.
We will practice how to hold our scissors for cutting paper. This is something fun to try together at home. (maybe even create something exciting...like a snowflake) We will try some experiments with water. How does it change when it freezes? How does it feel? How does it look? We will continue to work with numbers: recognizing numbers (1-10) and engaging in classroom activities that help the children identify "more" and "less"
This month we will spend time working on some very special projects for our Art Fair (which will be held February 3rd). Our projects this year are all inspired by the book: Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up late. By Mo Williams We will be sharing this story together in class. Ask your child to tell you about it.
There are lots of books to get excited about by this author: Have fun sharing them with your child!
